Rivers APC Crisis: Stop Being A Spoiler;Devil’s Advocate-Former NPA Executive Director To Ex-Rivers Attorney-General!

…Boms.

1. Good morning, Erudite Worgu Boms, Esq. My name is Rt. Hon. Sokonte Davies, Ph.D. I am a former member of the House of Representatives and the immediate past Executive Director, Marine and Operations, Nigerian Ports Authority. I think you know all this part about me but I don’t want to make any assumptions. Other parts about me, you won’t know for certainty except when relying on what people say about me which you can’t vouch for except to the extent you trust them and to the extent some will convince you. Why all this? Not much but to further say that in all only rely on what you know about me and stay to that especially when or if you deem it necessary to give a response to what I will say here below. And as a matter of fact, I really desire a response. It will settle a lot within my thinking.

2. One more thing. I confess upfront that I don’t read what you write firsthand because I am either not on the platforms you post them or because I am not on many social media platforms and outlets. Someone always sends them to me.

3. Now, to the reason I am writing to you. From your write-ups, I am at a loss in trying to understand why you, as a member of the APC, (as you say, although not backed up by documents based on your petition to the Party at the national level of being denied revalidation, a claim you and I know not to be exact) are bent on reducing the reputation of the Leader of the Party in the State (even by your acclaim), the Honourable Minister of Transportation, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi and many others of its chieftains (except Senator Magnus Abe.and I can hazard a guess why SMA is never vilified or blamed by you but that is not the purpose of this message). So, I don’t understand why the leadership of the Party is as bad as you claim or you portray it to be but you are still in the Party while eulogising Governor Wike for, according to you, his excellent performance as Governor. In the same breath, you made nonsense of the achievements of the CRA administration. I am asking because I can’t understand why so and therefore, I seek your erudite education, as you always address yourself as The Erudite.

4. Also, I don’t understand why you remained in the government of CRA when he was Governor of the State if he is or was this bad, corrupt, nonsensical and maybe worse as you want your reading public to believe. As you say that his judgements are always wrong, I want to know if his appointment of your erudite self is one of the examples you have in mind in condemning his decision making prowess or that that was the only sensible thing he ever did. Please help me to understand.

5. I further want to know if the series of advice you gave to him and which he accepted (as for this I want to understand further because although I was not a member of the State Executive Council and cannot be privy to discussions and decisions made there, I have been part of lots of meetings where he referred all legal issues to your superintendence and we followed your opinions) really faulty or deliberately done to mislead him and to be used in these times for political and other non altruistic purposes. I am still confused and desire to know if indeed they were done because you were in some form of collusion with the present Governor then as some now say which, ordinarily, I won’t have given thought to but is now arousing my curiosity due to the venom you are spewing on the same man whom God used to bring you into political limelight. On the other hand, I desire to know if you are alluding that your appointment as Honourable Attorney General of the State and Commissioner for Justice was a professional appointment and not a political one and that among those qualified to be so appointed you were the best or most qualified.

6. I want to understand all this because in my way of thinking, what I am tempted to deduce whenever I read what you purportedly wrote, I say purportedly because, as I said earlier, whatever I have read that is said to have been written by you is from a third party (although I trust the source that sends them to me), that either you are deliberately being mischievous or that you don’t possess the integrity you want your readers to believe you have or that you are using this an outlet to express an anger of an unmet attainment, desire or aspiration which you thought you could have achieved or met while you were in office. It gives me the impression that there are heights you felt you should have reached as HAG and Commissioner of Justice but couldn’t because of the fault or inactivity of your then boss, CRA. I don’t know. I am just wondering but my way of thinking gives credence to this type of conclusions. However, I don’t want to do so because of the fact that you already have erudite as a title or appellation for yourself and so, as I said earlier, a further education of me on your part will help me to make the “right” conclusions. Otherwise, the conclusions I already have will stick and will form my characterisation of you as a scorned lover who wants to have her pound of flesh at all costs.

7. Again, I don’t understand why, if you think your aforementioned appointment was appropriate and the decision of CRA was okay as at then that now his decisions are faulty, flawed, narrow and selfish as you want us to believe. Arising from this, I also don’t understand why you think that because he is the Leader of the Party, he loses *his right* to have an opinion on who becomes what in the Party and to use his capacities or vintage position to ensure the actualisation of such choices. I don’t understand why you think that it is wrong when, as far as I know, you too had tried to do same within the capacities you possessed and in fact, you did decide what happen in your Ward and LGA as leader of both when you were in office.

8. Furthermore, I want to once more understand why you remain in the APC when obviously, and plainly to the blind, as it is figuratively said, your hero is Governor Wike. I don’t understand why you continue to stay in the same Party which has clearly failed you and aborted your dreams and frustrated your expectations and current desires. Or maybe, you want the reputation of the Leader of the Party to be rubbished so that your preferred leader could emerge to lead the Party and even if that happens (although I say, God forbid), I don’t understand how you think you can positively repackage and remarket the same Party to the acceptance and admiration of the people of the State after such a concerted effort to remarket it and its leadership, especially its foremost Leader, CRA.

9. This said, I think you should do the needful. As Joshua and even the Prophet Elijah asked the Israelites at different times, how long should you vacillate between two opinions? If you are in APC, stay and promote it. If you have issues, you as a lawyer should know more than me that the Party Constitution has a lot of provisions on how matters should be settled. Use them. On the other hand, you can do what is honourably expected of you to do: leave the Party and join the party of the Governor like Rt. Hon. Igo Aguma and some others have done. I think that gives you more credibility than the venture you are on. In fact, this route is a misadventure. I can tell you with a great level of certainty that you can’t kill the APC with your style. Don’t be known as a spoiler. If you want to remain, remain but stop this journey. If CRA used to listen to you and do your bidding and he no longer does so, *_ji kere_. Wéré nwayo. Take it easy*. Before you, there were others. By your own confession, you weren’t there with him. So, were many. Some have left him, some remain, some are joining him. You came and he accepted you. If he doesn’t find you useful, why not chill? Don’t bite the finger that once fed you. Or are you also going to claim like some are doing that his finger never fed you? Must you pull down the house because you are refused your favourite toys?

10. Be wise, erudite and reasonable, I so advice. And, because I get your write-ups and vituperation against CRA from a source, I will also avail the source these my quests and suggestions. My name is Sokonte Davies.

Thank you and enjoy a great weekend.
