A pillar, Monday fell off and killed a middle-aged man scavenging for iron rods from a building under demolition at the site of the proposed Nkpolu-Oroworukwo flyover project in Port-Harcourt, Rivers State.
The tragedy, our correspondent learnt, occurred as some youth were scavenging for rods and other valuable materials from a three-storey building which is being demolished along the Azikiwe-Ikokwu axis of Port-Harcourt Local Government Area. The victim who was simply identified as Chibuzor was hit by debris from a broken pillar which left him incapacitated and stuck to the ground.
