EFCC Nabs Social Media Influencer Pankeeroy, 34 Others For Internet Fraud In Lagos!

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC),has arrested an Instagram comedian cum ‘social media influencer’ for alleged internet fraud.

The comedian, Nwagbo Oliver Chidera, known as Pankeeroy on Instagram, was arrested alongside 34 other internet fraudsters at their hideout in James Court, Lekki, Lagos State, following credible  and actionable intelligence about their fraudulent activities on the internet.

The Lagos Zonal Office of the anti- graft agency
listed the names of the other suspects as: Chinedu Christian, Gafar Adedamola, Chuka Richard, Dibo Samson, Rotimi Damilola, Habeeb Damilola, Afolabi Michael, Adekanbi Adeola, Emeka Egwuatu, Adeyemi Olumide, Awokoya Iyaniwura, Efunnuga Samuel, Samson Egwuatu, Gbemileke Simeon, Omoyemi Owolabi and Farouk Olatunde.

Others are: Orapitan Segun, Oladunjoye Olawale, Ibrahim Olanrewaju, Wasiu Sola, Olamiposi Damilola, Isiaq Olamilekan, Abel Junior, Emmanuel Martins, Timilehin Jesse, Kelvin Kendal, Omotola Emmanuel, Rasaq Farouq, Oyelere Shakiru, Timileyin Damilare, Kelly Nwanou, Adedeji Olayinka, Balogun Ibrahim and Makinde Benjamin.

Spokesperson of the Commission, Wilson Uwujaren,who confirmed the development,said in a statement that investigations revealed that one of the suspects, Christian, defrauded an aged Asian-American lady of over $475,000 through a romance scam.

The suspect in his statement was said to have confessed to have posed as one Dave Federick, a 58-year-old United States national on a mission in Syria, in order to lure his unsuspecting victims and defraud them of their hard-earned money.

Wilson further stated that, a Mercedes Benz AMG GLE model valued at about N36 million was recovered from the suspect.

He said further investigations also revealed that the suspect has N22.3 million worth of Bitcoin in his blockchain account.

Items recovered from the suspects at the time of their arrest were: exotic cars, iPhones, laptop computers, Android devices and Macbook devices.

He said the suspects will be charged to Court at the end of investigations.
